Do you struggle with cravings sugar after lunchtime or dinner?
You are not alone! Sugar is in so much of the food that we eat these days, we have gotten used to everything tasting much sweeter so that's the way we like it. But it is possible to curb those cravings for sugary treats...
How to beat sugar cravings:
Have nutrition-packed meals
Include healthy fats and proteins with your meals to stabilise your blood sugar and keep yourself feeling fuller for longer.
Often we crave sugar because we are hungry and want that instant energy!
Retrain your tastebuds
Try and cut down on the amount of sugar you are consuming to train your tastebuds to like things a little less sweet. Watch out for all the places sugar can creep into your diet - hot drinks, yoghurt, smoothies, juices, cereals and sauces.
Break unhelpful habits
Often we have sweet things after meals just out of habit. So switch this habit for another - make a cup of tea, call a friend, read a book or have a shower.
Make healthy swaps
Choose unsweetened yoghurt, make your own muesli, and add less sugar to your baking.
